Aleksandar Baba-Vulic is a Serbian and American Nature Photographer. Born in Serbia, Alex resides on Block Island, RI when not traveling with his camera. He aspires to tell natural world stories, capturing magical moments where scene, nature and circumstance create a unique alchemy, both surreal and often mystical. Alex strives to generate a visual testament for pleasure and contemplation. Gifted with his first polaroid camera at age six and moving on to a 35 mm Voigtlander as an adolescent, Alex steadily followed his passions for science, nature and photography. While gaining his Master’s Degree in Biology and Natural Sciences from the University of Novi Sad, Alex was afforded the opportunity to study abroad bringing him to dramatically beautiful Block Island.
Falling in love with the island he stayed as a seasonal resident, simultaneously moving on to the exhilaration of both digital photography and international travel. Having lived, worked and visited in over a dozen countries Alex continues to immerse himself in the ever-changing study of photography. Throughout these years, Alex exhibited his work in dozens of gallery, salon and festival showings both in Rhode Island and throughout Eastern Europe. Additionally he has received numerous awards for both his art and nature photography; particularly in the special genre of underwater photography. Alex’s images have been published in many books, newspapers and periodicals. His artwork, presented on paper, canvas and metal, appears in hundreds of private collections and institutions in both the United States and Europe.
